• Reference (Rev. 19:15) Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword.

Death and Hades (hell) – The spirit of the inescapable

Death represents finality; the thing that you cannot escape. The spirit of death tries to make us believe thsat our situations are hopeless, finished, and unchangeable.

The devil, satan – The Commander in Chief of all evil

He is the author of confusion, but he is not confused.

He knows exactly what he is doing to steal, kill, and destroy.

He works through unyielded vessels.

HOW DO WE DEFEAT THEM IN OUR LIVES TODAY?

The Beast & The False Prophet – They attack our authority. What is Authority? It is the power to determine or otherwise settle disputes. It is the right to control, command, or enforce.

Your Weapon:  When our authority in Christ is attacked, we must declare the Promises of God from His Word. That is why we need to hide the Word in our heart. If the Word is in you, you can use it at a moments notice.

Death and Hades (hell) – They attack our assurance. What is Assurance? A positive declaration intended to give confidence. Assurance releases you from feeling defeated.

Your Weapon:  Remember your testimony. (Rev. 12:11)

Each Victory will help you to trust God for the next victory.

The devil, satan – He attacks the power of Jesus Christ’s Deity. What is Deity? It is the character or divine nature of a being.

Your Weapon:  The Blood of Jesus. (Rev. 12:11)

Declare:  satan, the Lord God renbukes you and the Blood of Jesus is against you! Satan, you are defeated by the Blood!

A Note about the Hebrew and Greek Texts for the Son’s Names

The New Testament was written in Koine Greek, of course, and that’s the starting point for serious exegesis of its writings. The Hebrew names derived here come from the Salkinson-Ginsburg Hebrew New Testament (1999 edition) which I compared to F. Delitzsch’s older Hebrew translation of the Brit Chadashah as well as with the Robinson-Pierpont Majority Text (1995), the Westcott and Hort NT, and the Friberg NT (UBS3/4). I also cross-checked against the LXX and various Jewish sources.

Passover

Pesach- the Hebrew word for Passover

*Pesach (Passover) is the most important of appointed times.  It is the Lord’s Passover, it is for all believers, not just those of the Jewish faith.

* This study of Passover will be from Messianic Jewish perspective.

Names:

Moshe- Moses- means ‘drawn from the water’

Yeshua- son of G-d, who Christians call Jesus. 

Yeshua Ha’mashia-  Jesus the Messiah

Hashem- The Lord

G-d has an original name that  He has given to us, it is important not to shorten or change the original.

The Bible is written in the middle-eastern mindset.  (In your prayers, ask G-d to open your mind to understand His Word from that perspective)

Torah- The first 5 books of the Bible (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy).   Also referred to as the Pentatuech by Christians.

Tanakh-  The entire Old Testament.

Notes:

September-October- Rosh Hashannah- new year or new season

The final plague is the reason for the Passover.     There are 3 things which are the theme  for Passover:

                1.)Redemption

                2.) Deliverance

                3.) Sanctification

Passover occurs on 1 day, The Feast of Unleavened Bread occurs for 7 days.

In Exodus 12 the Israelites are given instructions.  Verses 14 and 17 establish Passover’s  importance. “Now this day will be  a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as a permanent ordinance.   You shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for this very day I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt; therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as a permanent ordinance.”  (NASB)

On the doorposts blood was wiped, doorposts were in the shape of an |-| (chet).  Chet is also the word for sin in Hebrew.   (the blood wiped on the doorpost was a sign, the blood covered sin, thus sin was covered by the blood of the lamb.)

She-ma’ – means “to hear”   The shema is sung on the Shabbat (Sabbath).  Deut. 6:4

Brit hadasha-  New covenant

Yeshua kept the law, and because He kept the law, He was an unblemished lamb for sacrifice.  (refer to Exodus 12:5)

Romans 6- slavery- we were slaves to sin, just as the Israelites were slaves to the Egyptians.   Yeshua delivered us from sin.   

Although we are saved, we are still slaves in a worldly system until Yeshua returns.  Because of this, our sanctification is a life-long process upon belief in Yeshua, to be freed from the bondage of the world’s systems, and old belief/doctrine.  Ephesians 2:  Because of the strength with which sin held us, we needed a redeemer,Yeshua, to set us free. 

I Cor 5 and Exodus 12:22 – The blood of Messiah applied to our hearts saves us from eternal death.

Foods eaten during  Passover:

                Bitter herbs: All who receive Messiah are reminded of how bitter It was to be enslaved, (Israelites), and how bitter it was for us to be enslaved to sin.

                Matzoh:  unleavened bread.   A reminder that we are new creations in Yeshua without sin. (I Cor 7) Leaven is equal to sin.  Yeshua wants to remove all the leaven from our lives.  G-d is always in the process of purging, cleaning, pulling… it is a daily process.

The 3 themes of Passover:

Redemption and Deliverance:  helpless slaves needed a redeemer. (Israel).  We as believers need a redeemer.  The Israelites were in bondage to the Egyptians for 430 years.  Bondage consists of a belief system, habits, comfortability.  (Yeshua was breaking the mindset of the Pharisees, and G-d is always breaking our mindset)

Sanctification: Israel was to be set apart to serve G-d wholly.  (see Exodus 7)  G-d sets us apart for Himself- He wants us to look different.   He always turns the hearts of people back to Him. 

Messiah died to set us apart, to free us to be ourselves, and to serve Him fully. (Romans 6:1-6)

Additional information:

The Last Supper was actually a seder, the last seder before Yeshua ascended.

Yeshua died at the same time and day, 14^th day of Nissan, as the lamb that was sacrificed in Exodus.

Messiah’s legs, were not broken,  (Ps 31), nor were the lamb’s legs broken. (Exod 12)

Just as there was to be nothing left until morning, all had to be burned up to be the perfect sacrifice, so Yeshua gave up His life for us.

49 Days- Omer- Feast of Barley (were the days that Yeshua walked the earth after the crucifixion) ends May 19^th.

50^th day – Shamrud feast- Day of Pentecost (Acts 2)

**** Look with expectation during this time,  as this is a time of miracles.

It is time now to cleanse our houses.

G-d is looking for worship, and to turn our hearts back to Him.   He wants to do miracles in our lives!

Here is some basic information to begin studying.

Pesach:  (pronounced pay-sach) meaning to pass over, to spare, to exempt.

Reading:

Please read EXODUS, particularly Exodus 12 and 13

OVERVIEW:

* In the beginning of Exodus, we see the Israelites enslaved to the Egyptians. Moses comes to the forefront as a leader, demanding that Pharoah release the Israelites from bondage. Because Pharoah refused to comply, the results were the 10 plagues, listed in Exodus 7-11.

*The 10th plague, death of the firstborn, (Exodus 12:12–14), makes an additional distinction between the Israelites and the Egyptians. Blood was placed around the doorposts of the Israelites per God’s instruction, allowing the angel of death to ‘pass-over’ those homes which were marked by the blood.

Passover is a time of remembrance, something that we are to observe continually. (Exodus 12:14; 24–27)

General Information

1.  Observance of Passover is done in part by conducting a seder.

2.  Pesach lasts for seven (7) days (eight (8) days outside of Israel). The first and last days of the holiday (first two (2) and last two (2) out side of Israel) are days on which no work is permitted.

3.  During the time of Passover, no leavened bread is to be eaten. We are to remove leaven from the home. Chametz (pronounced cha-metz) includes yeast, and the 5 grains, wheat, rye, barley, oats, and spelt.

Definitions: 

1.  Seder—a ritual feast held on the 1st and 2nd nights of Passover.

2.  Haggadesh—The script/program used during the seder (feast), which re-tells the story of the Exodus, and explains practices and symbols for the holiday.

Foods typically eaten during the Passover seder include:

Wine—we will use grape juice

Vegetables

Eggs

Matzah—Unleavened bread mixed with water

Horseradish

Parsley

For the seder we will need volunteers to assist with setting up the tables and food, as well as clean up.
